Interesting Isn’t It: Part-2
Do you download too much movies from the torrent websites?
Do you feel that your account has been hacked? A murder case seeks help of
Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa!! A farmer built her own internet broadband, faster
speed than average UK internet connection speed! Here we are with the second
part of our interesting things series. Hope you enjoyed the first part and get
to know some really interesting stuff, now without wasting your time let’s get
dive into the pool of awesomeness.
1. I know what you download.
A website named “I know what you download” claims that it
holds the record of your every torrent downloads and searches. Yes, you heard
it right. While many of us solely rely on torrent websites for downloading, it
is scary to know that our searches are logged on somewhere and can be traced
back to us. But here’s the trick, this websites shows the searches and
downloads based on the IP (Internet Protocol) and we use dynamic IP that is
ever changing unlike the static one. So it might give you a sigh of relief that
not all of your searches are logged on somewhere. Don’t worry, just make sure
to use reliable proxies and VPN services for browsing torrent websites and
downloading.
2. Have I been pawned?
Do you feel that someone is watching over you? Or has logged
into your email account without your permission and viewed something personal?
Well now there’s a website that might come handy to check whether your email id
has been a part of some major breach. So how does this website know that
whether my email has been hacked or not? Unless you are a political leader or
some celebrity no one is interested in your personal life. How it checks is, it
continuously looks over the different online platforms like pastebin to see if
any breach is reported and then it creates a database out of that information
and checks whether your email was part of that breach. A great reminder for
using secure password.
3. A murder case seeks help of virtual assistant.
Arkansas police are seeking help from e-commerce giant Amazon for data that may have been recorded on its Echo device belonging to James Andrew Bates who is convicted in the murder of Victor Collins. Echo typically sits in an idle state with its microphones constantly listening for the "wake" command like "Alexa" or "Amazon" before it begins recording and sending data to Amazon's servers. However, due to its always-on feature, it's usual for the Echo to activate by mistake and grab snippets of audio that users may not have known was being recorded. Some of those voice commands are not stored locally on Echo but are instead logged onto Amazon's servers. After the FBI Vs Apple case this one might be interesting to look for.
4. I am gonna build my own Internet.
Christine condor, a farmer’s wife created her own broadband network name B4ARN that is actually 35 times faster than average UK internet speed. That is nearly 1GBps guys, and it’s not a joke. She was upset about her internet speed and decided to follow JFDT rule (Just _ Do It) you can figure out the F. Her network consists of only optic fiber cable and has 2300 customers of her rural community. A salute to her spirit and a great lesson to learn from this.
5. Malware's high time.
After the success of Pokémon go the Japanese company released its most popular game play super Mario for iOS. But like there were fake applications for Pokémon that were infecting android users now super Mario also surfaced online that holds the malware which affect the android users so unless you want to play a game compromising your privacy do not download that super Mario from third party websites and put yourself at risk. A reminder for those who downloads the application from untrusted source and enjoys the latest at a cost.
Hope you like it like you like the first part. Stay safe Stay connected and don’t forget to comment, like and share.
