2019 is been the year of data breaches and privacy invasion. While some of the data breaches or hacks were due to the negligence of the companies, others were the result of weak passwords of users. Every year there comes a list that shows the worst passwords that made it to the top. The only list no one wants to top!!

This year NordPass a popular password manager has released a list showing the worst passwords used in the year 2019. The researchers went over more than 400 million passwords to find out which one was easy to find and hack. Being a cybersecurity person I always recommend to use the combination of small alphabet, capital letters, numbers, characters to make a strong password that is hard to crack. Also, you should keep changing your password at regular interval for enhanced security.

Not very surprising, the password "12345" stood as the no. 1 password that was used by more than 2 million people, accordingly"123456" and "123456789" stood at no. 2 and no. 3. Why do people compromise their security for convenience? There's no point in compromising your security when we are living in dual life in this 21st century both online and offline.

Many people use their spouse name or their pet name also for convenience, but they forget that these passwords are easy to guess and won't stand a chance against any brute force attack. Moreover, they tend to use the same password for almost all the social media activity that puts them at risk.

Always use the strong password and change it at regular interval. Also, don't use the same password for all your important logins. For more information on how to make a strong password do comment below. Till next time stay safe, stay updated and stay connected.
